Jaxtr is a social communications startup in downtown Menlo Park backed by August Capital, Mayfield, Draper Richards, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Founders Fund and other top-tier venture investors. Our user base has doubled every month since the launch of our public beta in March, and we now have over one million registered users who have created a jaxtr link for their phone.

You are a knowledgeable web developer; you know the basics, CSS and HTML, and you have realized that there's more to a good web site -- JavaScript or AJAX, to make the site appealing.

We have a number of killer apps (and many more ideas), around VoIP services and social networking -- placing long distance phone calls, anonymity, phone widgets for blogs, viral growth, APIs, ..., much more, but you'll have to join us to start really brainstorming.

Job Description:
- Design and implement jaxtr.com web site user experience
- Add features working with the back-end team
- Think outside the box, making things look nice, and improving usability

Required skills:
- 3+ years of building cool web sites
- Solid knowledge of CSS, HTML, JavaScript
- Know browser differences
- Eye for graphics, good with Photoshop or other graphics package
- Understand scalability/responsiveness tradeoffs
- Work seamlessly with the server team

Bonus points for:
- AJAX, JSP, XHTML
- Flash
- Visual design / usability experience
- Search engine optimization
- Helping QA build test frameworks
